A Favorite Hair Product

The Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Mask tops my list for hair care products.  My hair is pretty dry and as a result sometimes frizzy so this mask solves most of my hair woes. Although rather pricy, at $30 a tub, a little goes a long way as you only apply it to the ends of your hair.  I use it about once a week usually after swimming or applying heat to my hair.  The great thing about this mask is that it contains both macadamia oil and argon oil and is paraben-free.  It also smells rather delicious!

For a cheaper alternative try the Tresemme Liquid Gold Shine Therapy.  It rivals the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Mask and works wonders!  At about $5 a bottle, this product won't put a dent in your bank account.   It leaves my hair feeling silky, smooth, and frizz free.

What I've Been Watching: Pretty Little Liars

I haven't had much time for TV, but when I knew Pretty Little Liars was returning, I knew I had to make time.  I love the dark plot and the all the mysteries involved.  One of my favorite parts however, is the fashion!  While I love Aria's edgy style and Spenser's preppy style, I'd have to say I like Hannah's style the best!  Do you watch Pretty Little Liars, if so whose style do you like best?

Hannah's Style:
Hannah's outfits are 100% feminine, they often feature ruffles and she can be seen wearing skirts and dress.  Blazer's and wedges also seem to be staples in her wardrobe!

CHANEL Spring-Sumer 2013 Haute Couture: Feathers and Florals

As always, one of my favorite shows of the season to watch is Chanel.  Not only because Chanel shows feature an iconic style but also because they always feature opulent sets.  Many of the looks seen on Chanel's runways influence what's to come for the season.

Aside from the classic suits*, the first thing that stood out to me were the large feathers adorning each model's hair.  Perhaps this is too extravagant for everyday wear but it could easily be translated for the everyday girl as a headband with a feather detailing.  Next I noticed boots made out of lace, maybe this will inspire a trend of lace patterned tights.  In continuing with this season's trend of black and white together,  I noticed a lot of black lace overlaid on white fabric.

What really caught my attention was the twist half way through the show.  The couture in this portion featured a bevy of floral apliques in bold reds and blues.  Floral detailing figured prominent on the majority of the looks in this half of the show, signaling a continuation of the floral trend for this upcoming spring.  Towards the end I noticed feathers once again but this time decorating the girl's dresses, some of which appeared to be saloon girl inspired.

*Fashion Fact:  According to Karl Lagerfeld, the suits for this show were not made out of Chanel's iconic tweed material.  This material is actually made up of woven ribbons of silk, tulle, and satin!

The Pearl Bib

To say I'm obsessed with statement necklaces, would be an understatement.  I absolutely love wearing a simple shirt with a large necklace.  When I saw this pearlescent bib necklace I new I had to have it.  It looked so chic and I new it would go with everything!  I first saw the necklace in this Youtube video.  As Youtuber Michele1218 noted, the necklace has also been seen on reality TV star Michelle Money.  The necklace can be found at Forever21 stores.

Rainy Day Boots

Since it's January, you may be experiencing rainy weather.  You probably don't want to be caught in the rain without an umbrella or rain boots.  Why not look super fashionable stomping through puddles? The boots I've been wearing are the ones pictured below, the Stormette boot by Michael Kors.  Described by The Wall Street Journal as the perfect mix of rugged and refined, these boots definitely don't look like your classic rain boot.

Golden Globes Fashion

One of my favorite times of the year is awards season.  My favorite part, of course, is the fashion!  I noticed a lot of blush, red, jewel tones, and sea foam green colors.  I was actually pretty disappointed with this year's fashion.  I really didn't have a favorite.  I'm hopping to see better fashion in the upcoming award shows.

One dress that stood out to me was this black, floor length gown on Kate Hudson.  I love the gold details.  She showed just the right amount of skin.  Also, the long sleeved gown was appropriate for the chilly weather in Los Angeles.

Worst:

I'm not loving this polka-dot number on Rachel Weisz.  There's something so off about it.  It just looks tacky and cheap.

Shopping

In my last post I was talking about how I was disappointed in what the stores had to offer.  Perhaps it is because the stores are in an awkward transition between winter and spring.  But still, I'm ready for new stuff!  I went out shopping the other day to see what was out in stores and I ran into bright and muted neon colors.  I noticed the color tangerine at many stores, a color that's great for summer.  I also saw a lot of chambray shirts but with twists, one shirt featured a dip-dye color and another, a polkadot patterned.  So in all, I realized that most of the items currently out for spring, are repeat trends.  However, I couldn't resist leaving the mall without these two items:

This cute top was only $10.80 from Forever21!  In real life the top is a bright neon coral.  I thought it would look great with a statement necklace.

How adorable is this oversized sweater with a heart pattern? It's perfect for transitioning from winter to spring.   I purchased it a Nordstrom.

The Same Trends

Recently, when I've gone shopping, I've come out with nothing.  I can't find anything at any of my favorite stores, and that never happens!  I'm looking for new looks but I feel as if the stores just aren't offering any.  Maybe because the stores are transitioning from winter into spring?  But even so stores seem to be offering up the same trends that have been out for a while including studs, skulls, neon.  I'm about to head to the mall now, so I'll report back if I find anything or see any new trends in my next blog post.  Stay tunned!
